More Information about Diamonds - Diamond Clarity
The purity of a diamond is a reflection of its clarity.
Most diamonds contain inclusions within their surface. Scratches, traces of minerals and other imperfections; do appear in the majority of diamonds to different degrees. As with the colour of your diamond; a system of grading is available to determine the clarity of your stone. This system grades the presence and the extent of flaws within your diamond. The ability to grade the clarity of a diamond allows clients to understand their stone’s properties. Through an evaluation of the clarity of the diamond, it is possible to establish the size, location, extent and the type of inclusions present.
The clarity of your diamond is of very high importance when choosing your stone. Flaws will affect the stone’s ability to reflect light; therefore, diamonds with numerous inclusions may appear dull and lifeless. The diamond clarity system uses numbers and letters to portray the extent of flaws within each stone.
